As I watch the news, my heart feels heavy. In moments like these, I find myself asking what it truly means to be more like Christ. How did Jesus respond to injustice, political turmoil, and people failing to love their neighbors?
A recent Instagram Live by Jackie Hill Perry challenged me to slow down and examine Jesus’ responses to circumstances not unlike what we are witnessing today. Instead of reacting out of emotion or ideology, she pointed us back to Scripture and to the person of Jesus. That prompting led me to create this Bible study.
What is the Study About?
My hope is not to tell us what to think, but to help us see Jesus more clearly—how He lived, how He responded, and what we can learn from Him in moments of tension and division. The goal is to move from being merely informed to being truly transformed.
The study is built around three core aims:
Posture: Identifying Christ-centered responses characterized by humility and peace.
Priorities: Understanding how Kingdom allegiance shapes our values more than political identity.
Practices: Applying spiritual disciplines, such as restraint in speech and prayerful engagement, in real-world disagreements.
A 6-Day Journey Toward Kingdom Allegiance
Each day of the study focuses on a specific aspect of Jesus’ life and teachings:
Day 1: Recognizing that Jesus’ Kingdom is not of this world.
Day 2: Learning why Jesus refused to be weaponized for political agendas.
Day 3: Ordering our allegiance—giving to God what belongs to God.
Day 4: Confronting injustice without the hollow pursuit of power.
Day 5: Rejecting violence and retaliation as Kingdom strategies.
Day 6: Centering people and service over positions and power.
"May we leave this study not merely informed, but transformed. Rooted in truth. Guided by love. Faithful to Your Kingdom."
